Meet Emily Gutman, LMSW

Emily Gutman, LMSW, IMH-E® (she/her/hers) is a fully licensed clinical social worker in the state of Michigan and is endorsed as an Infant Mental Health Specialist by the Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health. Emily received her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan School of Social Work.
Emily is passionate about working with folks across from many ages and backgrounds to find what feels right therapeutically to them.  She has special interest in supporting infants, young children, parents/caregivers, pregnant people, and adults in many stages of life. Emily has training in and experience with relationship and attachment difficulties, processing early life trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, life transitions, adoption, grief and loss, and challenging behaviors in children. She has also had experience working with children and families going through the adoption process and foster care system and enjoys working with families in times of transition.  Emily takes an eclectic approach to therapy with her clients and typically pulls from Psychodynamic, Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches.
Emily’s goal when entering into a therapeutic relationship is to provide a kind, trauma-informed space that feels non-judgemental, open, holding, and celebratory of who the client is at their core.  Her main goal is to support clients in developing compassion and care for all the parts of self and past experiences that bring them to seek a therapeutic relationship.
