Meet Alaina Kuisma, MS, LLPC (She/Her)
My work is rooted in an existential-humanistic and person-centered framework, meaning I believe meaningful change happens in the context of a safe, collaborative therapeutic relationship. I integrate evidence-based approaches including Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-informed interventions to help clients better understand patterns, build emotional regulation skills, and move toward lives that feel aligned with their values.
I have a particular interest in working with individuals struggling with substance use and compulsive sexual behaviors. Rather than approaching these concerns from a place of shame or pathology, I help clients explore how their behaviors function, whether they align with their values, and what change would look like on their own terms. Together, we focus on building insight, strengthening coping strategies, and addressing underlying emotional or relational wounds.
Clients often describe me as direct, warm, and collaborative. I strive to create a space where people feel deeply respected — especially when discussing experiences that carry stigma or vulnerability.
Whether you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply ready for something to shift, therapy can be a place to pause, reflect, and move forward with intention.
Accepts clients 13 and up.
