Meet Kelly Frakes, MA, LLPC

My approach to counseling is client-centered, utilizing cognitive-behavioral theory and interventions. I believe the client determines their goals and the direction counseling will take, as they are the experts on their lives. My role as a counselor is to provide a safe place for clients to develop increased self-awareness, explore feelings, thoughts, and experiences, and practice new behaviors. I believe that progress in counseling requires focus and attention from the client outside of the counseling sessions. Practicing techniques and increasing self-awareness outside counseling sessions and then discussing observations and questions are necessary for a client’s growth and progress toward client goals. Working together, we will clarify what you would like to gain from counseling and then develop a plan to help you move toward those goals. My interests include working with adolescents and young adults, couples, and others coping with anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship challenges.

Accepts client between the ages 14 and up
